Egg White Oatmeal

Why so special?

What is great about this recipe is that it only requires a few simple ingredients and makes meal prepping easy.

Everyone knows that dieting can be hard, especially since most diet foods taste bad and lack variety. Oatmeal is a good source of grains, but many people tend to buy those sugary oatmeal packets.

Let’s be real.. they taste good, but they are not the healthiest option and don’t fit many diet plans. This oatmeal recipe allows you to add protein, using egg whites, and add whatever toppings you like. What is nice is you can’t even taste the eggs.

This recipe calls for ingredients like rolled oats, egg whites, almond milk (or whatever milk you like to drink), and your favorite toppings. It’s that easy.

Oatmeal is a staple breakfast item that many people grow up eating. If made right, they can be a great comfort food that is gooey, warm, and hearty.

But don’t make mornings the end all be all. This is a recipe that is so tasty, healthy and filling that it works well for lunch or even a breakfast-for-dinner meal. Plus, it also holds well and can be made the night before and be ready for breakfast the next day.

Every minute counts, right?

Egg White Oatmeal

Egg Whites?

For this recipe, I use egg whites that are brought from the store. This is an attempt to save time.

When most people think of egg whites, it’s the thick, clear liquid found surrounding the yolk when you crack an egg.

There are a variety of methods to separate the two. I have seen people use water bottles or special devices you can buy at the store or on Wish.

The technique I usually employ is passing the yolk back and forth between the shell over a bowl. Simple and effective.

At last, if you don’t want to crack eggs, buy the eggs whites from the store.

How to make Egg White Oatmeal?

Combine oats, milk, egg whites, cinnamon, and vanilla in a bowl.

Then microwave for 3-4 minutes, stirring after each minute. The stirring after each minute is essential to avoid clumping and separation of the mixture.

Finally, serve with favorite topping.

Benefits of adding egg whites to oatmeal

  • Protein Source: Adding egg whites to your oatmeal can easily add 10-20 grams of protein to your breakfast, depending on how much egg white you add. This recipe calls for 3/4 cup. Also, did I mention you can barely taste the eggs?
  • Fluffiness: Oatmeal on its own is a fulling meal item, but the added protein gives it a more fluffy and dense texture that keeps you full for long periods.
  • Variety: This recipe provides a simple way to add protein to your daily intake in a unique way. It also allows you to pick the toppings you like to keep it interesting.

Tips for making Egg White Oatmeal

  • It’s important to stir in between the minutes of microwaving. This helps to make sure the oatmeal does not get lumpy. If you don’t stir the egg whites, tend to cook unevenly and can make the mixture come out as oats with lumps of scrambled egg.
  • Great stir-ins while it’s cooking: nut butter, protein powder, or honey. This makes the oats a light and airy consistency.
  • Add toppings: I recommend almond butter, peanut butter, cranberries, cinnamon, ginger, fresh fruit, and even granola. Whatever your heart desires.
